Truth be known, I'm never 100% correct with my gear - I'm more inclined to have the general "feel" of things instead of having a correct kit list. But there's plenty of "russians" in Sweden that go all the way and look almost 100%...but for me, no no - it's too demanding (I'm lazy remember )

Tell your Finnish friends to readjust their berets. The berets should have the form of your head. The best way (and most Finnish ) way to do it is to wet them and go to the sauna while trying to form them on your head (does it make sense?) Warm water works too, but the sauna is definitely the best way to go! You can do it as many times as you want, it wont ruin the beret. The hardest part is the drying: try to find something round to put it on so that it keeps the form while drying.

When we formed our berets we showered with them on and then put our green balaclavas over them to get the right "stukning"
And yes, it looks exactly as stupid as it sounds with ~40 guys running around naked with balaclavas with the slight contours of a beret under it.
